What is Mohs Surgery?
Mohs surgery is a highly specialised type of surgery that can be used to treat skin cancer on all parts of the body.
The surgery involves the removal of cancerous tissue one layer at a time. Each layer of unhealthy tissue that has been removed is then examined under a microscope real time, in hopes to establish if the skin tissue contains cancerous cells. If cancer cells are present, your surgeon will remove additional layers of tissue in smaller segments all in that same day until all of the unhealthy (cancerous) tissue has been removed.
